ALUMINUM MIG WELDER

MIG Welders are responsible for building/fabricating, measuring/cutting and welding doors, floors, sidewalls, slats, and many other trailer components.  It’s a physically active job which requires reading blueprints & diagrams, working at a steady pace and being on your feet all day.   Come see us if you have a strong work ethic & want to build the best trailers in the industry!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, sample parts, and written or verbal work instructions to construct and assemble components of trailer assemblies using electric, pneumatic and hand-powered tools, as well as MIG and/or TIG welding equipment
  • Verify product conformance to the appropriate specifications and standards outlined in work order and drawings
  • Measure, mark, cut and machine parts using machines such as tube benders, bandsaws, plasma torches, or other equipment
  • Collaborate with other sheet metal workers, welders, and/or supervisors to address and resolve product or process issues
  • Adhere to lean manufacturing principals, including but not limited to 5S, Point of Use Storage, and Kanban systems, to maintain productivity, safety and cleanliness in the work area
  • Required to be able to float to other departments at any time as needed by the Company
  • Required to follow all policies and procedures as directed by Cimarron Trailers
  • Responsible for ensuring quality product is completed in a timely manner
  • Regular attendance is a critical function of this job


Education and Experience:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • MIG and/or aluminum TIG welding experience

 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read a tape measure with precision, including to 1/16 of an inch
  • Skilled in welding aluminum parts using a MIG and/or TIG welding techniques
  • Proficient in using a plasma torch and other tools necessary for the job
  • Ability to work collaboratively with your team and other departments to achieve common goals
  • Knowledgeable in product construction and application, consistently delivering quality work at the source
  • Organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities, easily adapting quickly to changing situations
  • Committed to maintaining a regular work schedule to ensure smooth product flow

 

Physical Demands:

  • Required to stand and move throughout the facility for extended periods, including up to an entire 8-hour shift, as well as any required overtime
  • Capable of stooping, bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders, and crawling in, around, on top of, or under trailers as part of the daily tasks
  • Able to use hands and arms repetitively to grip, twist, squeeze and operate tools such as welding guns, plasma torches, pneumatic and electric hand tools, and other hand tools throughout the shift and any required overtime
  • Frequently and repetitively lift up to 35 lbs. during the shift, with occasional lifting of items up to 75 lbs. individually.  Anything over 75 lbs. requires team-lifting
  • Must be able to safely and effectively handle necessary tools required to perform the essential functions of the position

 

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Safety glasses must be worn at all times
  • Safety toe shoes are required at all times
  • Welding hood with the appropriate rated lens for aluminum welding is required
  • Hearing protection must be worn as needed

 

Work Environment:

  • Combination of a typical non-air-conditioned plant and outdoor setting
  • Exposure to various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, as work may require moving between indoor and outdoor areas
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise throughout shift; hearing protection is required for this role
  • Exposure to smoke and fumes from welding operations

 

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
