This is a remote role with some occasional onsite meetings and in person outings.
General Description / Purpose:
The Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois is a trusted, iconic brand that has served the business and consumer community for 100 years as of April 2026. The Sales Manager is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing sales team, driving revenue growth, and ensuring consistent execution of BBB sales strategies. This role provides hands-on leadership in a telephone-based sales environment, coaches team members to achieve individual and department goals, and builds strong relationships with prospective and existing BBB Accredited Businesses. The Sales Manager also represents BBB through presentations, trainings, and in-person networking events throughout Northern Illinois.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following, but are not limited to:
· Lead, coach, motivate, and develop the sales team to achieve individual and department revenue goals.
· Establish performance expectations, monitor results, and provide ongoing feedback, recognition, coaching, and accountability.
· Oversee daily telephone sales activities, including prospecting, pipeline development, follow-up, appointment setting, and closing strategies.
· Develop and execute sales strategies that support BBB revenue objectives, Accredited Business growth, retention, and market expansion.
· Monitor sales performance, activity, conversion rates, pipeline health, and forecasts; provide recommendations and updates to leadership.
· Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of sales team members.
· Deliver sales presentations and facilitate management and sales-team training on sales techniques, product knowledge, prospecting, objection handling, and customer engagement.
· Represent BBB at in-person networking events, and other business-development activities throughout Northern Illinois.
· Build strong relationships with business owners, community partners, referral sources, and internal teams to identify opportunities and support a consistent customer experience.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
. At least 5 years+ of progressive sales management experience with responsibility for team performance, coaching, and revenue attainment.
· Telephone sales management experience strongly preferred.
· Proven record of leading a sales team to meet or exceed performance goals and revenue targets.
· Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, develop, and hold team members accountable in a results-driven environment.
· Strong sales presentation, facilitation, negotiation, objection-handling, and closing skills.
. Excellent verbal, written, telephone, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, business owners, and senior leaders
· Must reside within or in reasonable commuting distance of Northern Illinois and be available for in-person meetings, trainings, and networking events for up to 10% travel.

· $70,000 annual base salary plus up to a $30,000 annual bonus opportunity, for $100,000 total compensation at goal.
