At Ironwood, care is personal—and so is our team culture. Our Central Business Office is looking for a detail-oriented and patient focused New Patient Scheduler/Operator to serve as a vital first point of contact for our patients.

Position Summary:

Assists in monitoring the efficiency of the office support team. Coordinates the activities of the office team and provides coverage as needed.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as a primary contact for incoming patient and referral calls
  • Schedule new patient appointments accurately and efficiently
  • Collect and verify demographic and insurance information
  • Request, track, and follow up on medical records prior to appointments
  • Monitor fax servers, voicemails, and patient call-back queues
  • Send new patient paperwork promptly (mail/email)
  • Maintain and update patient data using Excel logs and internal systems
  • Coordinate pre-appointment preparation with clinical teams
  • Communicate daily with physicians regarding scheduling needs
  • Support overall office operations with additional administrative duties


What We’re Looking For:

  • 1–2 years of medical office experience required
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working with computers, EMRs, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude and professional demeanor

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical oncology experience
  • Knowledge of insurance processes and coverage verification
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance standards
  • Understanding of chemotherapy drugs and related supplies
  • Bilingual communication skills
