Material Handler

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Material Handler will fulfill orders, accept incoming shipments, and oversee the general organization of the warehouse. The position reports to the Procurement and Inventory Manager. Other guidance is provided by the Inventory Purchasing Clerk.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Restocks supplies and inventory.
  • Accepts, verifies, inspects, and records all deliveries according to policy.
  • Records, reports, and returns defective items. 
  • Maintains the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse area, including the production area.
  • Handles complaints related to shipments; notifies supervisor of any shipping or receiving issues. 
  • Picks and stages materials for projects and departments.
  • Familiarization with inventory items and product codes to perform cycle counts.
  • Receives, distributes, and stores products as directed in designated, secure locations.
  • Transport and load materials, supplies, and finished goods (manually and/or using forklifts and carts).
  • Ensures and maintains a safe and clean warehouse environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 
  • Will Call pickups.
  • Participate in monthly and yearly inventory counts.
  • Wire stripping
  • Unload freight 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient with inventory control systems.
  • Thorough understanding of warehouse policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with Inventory/Warehouse Management Systems.
  • At least two years of related experience required.  

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to complete various activities in the warehouse that may require hours of lifting, standing, and carrying.
  • Must be able to move up to 50 pounds at a time.
