Follow Pastor
Description
The Follow Pastor serves as the pastoral lead for formation at Plum Creek Church, guiding individuals from their first steps of faith into a deepening, lifelong practice of living like Jesus. They are the primary owner and champion of the Follow Operating System (OS) at Plum Creek Church. The Follow Pastor builds and leads the environments, people, and processes that move someone from first visit to meaningful formation. This is a pastoral role requiring both relational depth and systems thinking, with a heart to see people genuinely transformed. This position reports directly to the Executive Pastor of Discipleship & Operations.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the Follow pathway, ensuring alignment with Plum Creek's mission and the Live Like Jesus culture.
- Lead, develop, and care for contributors within the Follow system.
- Oversee the health and execution of Follow cohorts, Alpha cohorts, the Monday Call, and the Follow Table experience.
- Champion the four practices (Formation, Community, Generosity, and Service) as the framework for ongoing discipleship.
- Oversee and execute the monthly Practice.
- Carry out the church's mission of Changed Lives, Changing Lives through intentional relational ministry.
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum bachelor's degree & minimum 3 years as a pastor or comparable ministry experience
- Strong relational and pastoral skills, with the ability to shepherd people well across diverse life stages
- Skilled facilitator and group leader
- Builder’s mindset with the ability to design, organize, and sustain reproducible discipleship systems and pathways
- Developer of teams, contributors, and volunteer leaders
- Excellent communicator in both one-on-one and small group settings
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong project and process management skills
- Self-starter with strong initiative; proactive, collaborative, and able to thrive in ambiguity
- Loyal, trustworthy, and dependable with a high level of follow-through
Spiritual Qualities & Passions
- Intimacy with God, Intentionality with Family, and Influence with Others
- Active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Feels a calling by God into full-time pastoral ministry
- Passionate about formation and believes people genuinely can and do change

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
Champion the Follow Operating System
- Own, build, and continuously refine the Follow OS from first touchpoint to ongoing formation
- Lead, manage, and develop contributors within the Follow pathway.
- Ensure every step of the Follow OS is clear, consistent, and executed well
- Create systems that are simple, repeatable, and scalable across ministries
- Develop and maintain systems for tracking participant progress through the Follow pathway, from first visit to ongoing practice
- Maintain personal pastoral contact with individuals and families moving through the Follow pathway
- Champion a culture where every touchpoint is pastoral, not transactional
- Build a contributor culture that is:
- Pastoral
- Relational
- Reproducible
- Champion and resource the four practices framework, helping individuals move into Formation guides, Community structures (Havens, Neighborhoods, Homes), Generosity development (Ask/Believe/Commit), and Service teams.
Oversee the Follow Table & Monday Call
- Oversee the Follow Table experience as the primary weekend call-to-action
- Manage the Follow Table experience, including training Table hosts and ensuring a consistent, welcoming environment
- Train and equip contributors to create meaningful, discerning conversation
- Own and execute the Monday Call process:
- Every guest contacted within 48 hours
- Conversations are personal, pastoral, and informed
- Clear next steps are always offered
- Oversee and continuously improve the Monday Call process, ensuring a warm, timely, and pastoral first point of contact for new guests.
Oversee Alpha & Follow Cohorts
- Lead, oversee, and staff presence at all Alpha and Follow cohorts
- Work closely to with Class Coordinator to be sure there is consistency in registrations, communication, and expectations for available Cohorts
- Ensure cohorts are:
- Consistently available
- Properly staffed and led
- High-quality, relational, and reproducible
- Recruit, train, and support table leaders and facilitators
- Monitor the health of each cohort (attendance, engagement, spiritual movement)
- Ensure every participant is personally known and intentionally guided
Oversee Follow Guide Distribution & Integration
- Oversee the Follow Resource Center and distribution of Guides
- Ensure resources are accessible, visible, and aligned with the formation pathway
- Integrate Guides into cohorts and ongoing practices
Oversee Follow Practices Midweek Services
- Lead, oversee, and staff presence at all Follow Practice services
- Collaborate with appropriate teams and departments on planning and execution of Practice servicesÂ
- Ensure practices are:
- Properly staffed and led
- High-quality, relational, and reproducible
General Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Remain adaptable and responsive as the vision of Follow expands
- Steward budget as assigned by the Discipleship Pastor
- Oversee and participate in other ministry responsibilities as assigned and agreed upon by supervisor
- Meet regularly with supervisor to review wins, needed changes, and goals
- Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching, care, and accountability
- Attend monthly All Staff meetings
- Continually evaluate and create plans for personal, ministry, and spiritual growth.
- Pastor on call responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned
Anticipated Time Commitments
- 45 hours per week, with flexibility based on ministry rhythms and seasonal demands
- Weekend presence required, specifically supporting and leading within the Follow Table environment
- Evening availability required during the week to lead and support Alpha and Follow cohorts, and Follow Practice services
- Schedule will vary at times based on class seasons, key events, and ministry initiatives
- This position is expected to work at events that are considered “all hands on deck” including but not limited to: Christmas Eve services, Easter services, and other special events
Evaluation Process
- 90-day performance review and annual performance reviews
- Ongoing development conversations as the Follow ministry grows
