 Summary
The Shingle Roofing Superintendent will oversee Shingle Reroof projects on commercial buildings. The Superintendent will manage crews, enforce safety compliance, track weekly progress, track material usage, document roadblocks, provide training and support to crews, enforce quality control, and keep the project on schedule and on budget. 
Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The lists below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Minimum high school graduate, bachelor's degree preferred. 
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on shingle roofing experience, project management experience in residential or commercial roofing preferred. 
  • Driver's License: Required.
  • Certifications: OSHA10, First Aid, and CPR Training preferred. 
  • Languages: Must be fluent in English, and Spanish is a plus. 
  • Travel: Must have the ability to travel 30% across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The average project requiring travel will be 2 days at a time during the work week. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of residential and commercial steep slope roofing systems including slate, tile, synthetic slate, asphalt shingles, and copper & zinc standing seam. 
  • Knowledge and experience with soldering copper and stainless steel. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Scheduling Software.
  • Experience with a CRM and estimating software is a plus. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess a motivated, professional, and self-starter attitude. 
  • Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple priorities and calendars. 
What You'll Do
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all crews, subcontractors, and other contractors on the project. 
  • Maintain and improve quality control, job site cleanliness, and daily housekeeping. 
  • Communicate job progress, field concerns, and technical questions with supervisor on a daily basis. 
  • Complete all paperwork related to the project including time sheets, safety huddles/toolbox talks, material and sheet metal shop requisitions, and job reports. 
  • Install and replace roofs and exterior walls with metal, slate, single-ply systems, asphalt, aluminum, wood, gravel, gypsum, and related materials. 
  • Conduct trim/panel measurements and clip spacing plans. 
  • Repair cracks, defects, and damages to the roofing systems using appropriate materials. 
  • Apply adhesives, caulking, sealants, and coatings to roofing systems as needed. 
  • Operate company-owned and rented vehicles, mechanized devices, and heavy equipment. 
  • Inspect equipment, structures, and materials before each use.
  • Coordinate punch list and job close-out before the crew completes the job and leaves the site. 
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds. 
  • Requires the ability to stand, walk, and balance for long periods of time. 
  • Requires use of abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing. 
  • Requires seeing details at close range. 
  • Requires repetitive movement, bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, or crawling.
  • Working in temperatures above 90°F or below 32°F. 
  • Working at heights and in other potentially dangerous conditions. 
  • Exposure to extremely bright or inadequate lighting. 
  • Exposure to loud, distracting, or uncomfortable noise levels. 
  • Exposure to contaminants, hazardous materials, and potentially hazardous equipment. 
  • Exposure to minor injuries such as burns, cuts, bites, or stings. 
  • Performing work where errors may have significant consequences. Strict adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations is required.
