Pay Range
$23.00 – $35.95 per hour
The compensation range listed above represents the good-faith range Cary Medical Center anticipates relying upon when making an offer for this position. Starting pay is determined based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and market conditions.
 Job Summary:Â
A One Day Surgery/Endoscopy Technician is one who, under the supervision of nursing and medical staff, performs technical and clerical support tasks in assisting physicians, nurses, and patients relative to a variety of surgical and gastroenterological procedures, both diagnostic and therapeutic.Â

Essential Job Duties:Â
- Prepares and set up of endoscopy room for the day
- Sets up supplies for the cases of the day
- Sets up bovie machine
- Instructs and assists patients in preparation for procedures
- Checks chart for required documentation prior to procedures and participates in time out
- Assists physicians during gastroenterology procedures (colonoscopies, upper gastrointestinal endoscopies, esophageal dilations, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG), endoscopic polypectomy, biopsy, and cytology specimen collections, pylortek, and tattooing.
- Performs high level sterilization using Sterris machine.
- Proper log book maintenance
- Assists physicians with cystoscopies, prostate biopsies, vasectomies, and stent removals
- Proper cleaning of cystoscope and ultrasound machine
- Stocking of endoscopy room
- Cleaning of endoscopy room
- Performing other related duties as required
One Day Surgery:
- Assists with vital signs
- Assists with washing and making of stretchers
- Assists with food preparation and feeding of patients
- Assists with transportation of patients to MRI, CT, X-RAY, etc.
- Assists patients with dressing
- Stocks One Day Surgery Area
- Puts laundry away
- Assists with medical records retrieval and chart organization
- Performs other related duties as required
- Complies with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Requirements
Education, Skills, Experience Requirements:
- CNA-registry/Surgical Technician ExperienceÂ
- Familiar with medical terminology and specifically those related to gastroenterology and surgery
- Maintains current BLS certification
Availability:Â
- Irregular or Extended Work Hours - Occasional. Depending on department staffing needs, you may be asked to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Takes calls for endoscopies.
