Distribution Manager

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Post Press Manager is responsible for staffing and carrying out efficient newspaper and insert distribution procedures. Verifies and processes alternate publication deliveries for Circulation. Coordinates commercial print deliveries and mailings. Oversees the utilization and maintenance of the vehicle fleet. Hires, oversees, and evaluates delivery drivers. Responsible for departmental driver and pallet jack training. Interacts with the Packaging Center to ensures departmental goals out-times are met.
JOB GOALS:
Ensures that loading and delivery operations are executed in a safe and accurate manner. Clear and consistent communication with distribution centers. Enforces DOT regulations for drivers. Responsible for alternate publication distributions to Circulation.
Coordinates commercial print delivery with for hire carriers.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Good organizational and communication skills required. Ability to supervise and motivate personnel. Knowledge of Operations Department function, DOT regulation, schedules and policies is essential. Must be able to exercise independent judgement.
Must have a strong commitment to excellence, safety and customer service. Is expected to produce quality work.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Previous related experience helpful.
