Vision: The Chapel Kids Wednesday Night Coordinator is a volunteer leader and ministry coordinator who helps create a safe, organized, and spiritually engaging Wednesday night environment for children in kindergarten through fourth grade at the South Hills Campus. 

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Chapel Kids: Elementary, this role coordinates ministry details, develops and cares for the Serve Team, and supports children and families.



Responsibilities


  • Coordinate the Wednesday night kindergarten-fourth grade Chapel Kids ministry under the direction of the Associate Director of Chapel Kids: Elementary.
  • Identify, recruit, train, schedule, encourage, and support teachers, teacher assistants, and other Serve Team volunteers.
  • Maintain the Wednesday elementary volunteer schedule in PCO Services and communicate schedule expectations and changes to volunteers.
  • Identify volunteer staffing needs, communicate gaps in coverage, and work with the Associate Director to address ongoing or recurring shortages.
  • Ensure all volunteers and staff are appropriately cleared and eligible to serve before being scheduled.
  • Assist with the curriculum development and management to include lesson materials, and instructions provided by Chapel Kids to teachers and volunteers at least one week before they serve.
  • Maintain practical training resources and procedures for Wednesday night Serve Team volunteers.
  • Maintain Wednesday night supplies and submit purchase requests within the established Chapel Kids budget in coordination with the Associate Director.
  • Assist with Wednesday communication and follow up period. Escalate significant ministry, behavioral, safety, or family concerns to the Associate Director.
  • Support program development and continual improvement by identifying needs, sharing feedback, and partnering with the Associate Director on appropriate changes.
  • Attend monthly Chapel Kids leader meetings and meet monthly with the Associate Director of Chapel Kids: Elementary.
  • Be present and prepared for required Wednesday night ministry responsibilities during the ministry season, along with specifically assigned Chapel Kids meetings, trainings, and events.
  • Participate in VBS leadership and serve in an assigned area as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Director of Chapel Kids Elementary.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a growing believer in Jesus Christ who is in agreement with the doctrine and ministry philosophy of The Bible Chapel. They should have experience working with elementary-age children in a church, school, camp, childcare, or similar ministry setting, as well as a demonstrated ability to recruit, coordinate, encourage, and lead volunteers. The candidate should possess strong communication, organization, follow-through, and problem-solving skills and be able to work collaboratively under the direction of ministry leadership while exercising sound judgment when concerns need to be escalated. Comfort using, or a willingness to learn, Planning Center Online (PCO) and other ministry communication and scheduling tools is also expected.


Time/Allocation: Part-time, Stipend Tier 3 (14 - 19.5 hr/wk)


Reporting: The Wednesday Night Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Director of Chapel Kids: Elementary.
