JOB DESCRIPTION

Working Title:          ROAD & BRIDGE TECHNICIAN

Department:             ROAD & BRIDGE

Reports to:                ASSISTANT FOREMAN

Classification:         62

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This position­­­­­­­­­­­­­ works closely with the Road and Bridge Foreman and assistant Foreman in all County Road and Bridge assignments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Performs general maintenance on roads and bridges
• Install and repair traffic signs
• Operates machines/equipment to repair road surfaces
• Reports any and all issues immediately to the Assistant Foreman
• Mowing and trash removal
• Maintenance of county equipment and facilities

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• All duties as assigned by the Foreman or Assistant Foreman
• Ability to serve “on call” for emergency events (i.e.-Flooding, Wildfire, etc).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED preferred         

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Must have valid Texas CDL or obtain CDL within 90 days of employment
• Experience in equipment operation
• Experience road maintenance preferred

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Will be required to work in extreme weather conditions and be exposed to dust and chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet; however, on minimal occasions, this position will be required to conduct on-site inspections where the noise level will be high.
