The Senior Systems Engineer II will independently and collaboratively conduct system-level activities supporting a group’s objectives of systems programs.  This role will be responsible for supporting the development and documentation of complex system architectures within a digital engineering ecosystem. This role requires deep expertise in Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) viewpoints and modern service‑based architectural patterns. Working knowledge of autonomy reference architectures such as AGRA, UMAA, and WGRA and application of systems engineering practices to DevOps‑oriented environments are desired.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, maintain, and evolve system models using SysML or related modeling languages. Design and document service‑based architectures that emphasize modularity, scalability, interoperability, and clear contract‑based interfaces.
  • Establish modeling conventions, ontologies, and toolchain workflows enabling traceability across requirements, behaviors, interfaces, and verification artifacts.
  • Integrate MBSE products within CI/CD pipelines to ensure models remain authoritative throughout the lifecycle.
  • Drive architecture development sessions and facilitate cross‑disciplinary alignment using structured modeling and digital engineering practices.
  • Capture behavioral, functional, and interface architectures that support autonomous system development and multi‑system integration.
  • Support the transition of existing software designs into distributed, service‑oriented implementations.
  • Collaborate closely with software, integration, and platform teams to ensure architectural intent is maintained within DevOps workflows.
  • Provide SE input for automated testing, versioning of system models, and requirements verification integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Communicate complex architectural concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences through structured diagrams, modeling artifacts, and clear documentation and engage with cross‑functional teams to ensure architectural cohesion and alignment with program milestones and technical baselines.
  • This position requires the ability to sit or stand at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active US DOD Security Clearance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent experience and 5+ years of progressive systems engineering experience in a related industry. 
  • Experience with the development, integration, and test of autonomous systems. 
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and formal tools for SysML. 
  • Strong background in systems engineering principles applied within DevOps or CI/CD ecosystems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s of Science degree or PhD 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, CAD, AutoCAD, AFSIM, and tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to identify and creatively solve complex problems 
  • Ability to execute logical reasoning and decision-making skills 
  • Salary: $139,000 - $172,000 (Depends on Experience)
