Position Overview As our Merchandiser, your key goal is to help increase sales while maintaining outstanding relationships with all our accounts. This is achieved by stocking shelves and cold boxes to eliminate out-of-stock conditions, strategically placing paper point-of-sale to increase brand awareness, and restocking and building floor and end displays. This position is assigned a territory and services every type of account within it, including convenience stores, large format grocery, small format grocery, liquor and package stores, and other retail outlets. Each account type has its own space, layout, and service expectations, and the Merchandiser is expected to work to the standard set for each one. This is an independent, customer-facing role with limited daily supervision. The Merchandiser works the assigned territory, organizes back-stock, keeps pricing and product rotation correct, removes damaged and out-of-date product, and keeps the account manager and supervisor informed of what is happening in each account. Success is measured by whether the accounts in the territory are full, correctly priced, properly rotated, and presentable, and by whether problems at an account are communicated in time to be fixed. This position requires the use of a reliable personal vehicle to travel between accounts throughout the assigned territory, with mileage reimbursed through KDC's company mileage reimbursement program. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Merchandising & Product Presentation Efficiently organize deliveries in the back-stock area of each account. Stock shelves, cold boxes, coolers, and floor and end displays at accounts with precision. Front and face product so that displays are full, clean, and shoppable. Ensure accurate pricing by affixing proper shelf tags to all packages. Ensure all temporary point of sale in an account is current. Maintain proper product rotation to uphold our commitment to freshness and quality standards. Build and refresh displays as directed by the account manager or supervisor. Work to the space, layout, and service standard appropriate to each account type, from single-door coolers in convenience stores to full aisle sets in large format. Assist with resets, schematic changes, and new item placement as directed. Keep back rooms, cooler space, and display areas clean and orderly, and remove packaging and debris from the account. Territory & Account Communication Service every assigned account in the territory at the established frequency and complete each account call before moving to the next. Communicate all pertinent information regarding any retail account activity directly to their account manager or supervisor, including out-of-stocks, competitor activity, and space or display changes. Identify and remove damaged, dented, or expired products from shelves, promptly notifying the account manager. Foster positive customer relations and maintain a friendly demeanor. Represent Kristen Distributing Company professionally with store owners, managers, and personnel across all account types. Follow each account's check-in, receiving, and back-room procedures. Collaborate with the account manager to ensure each account is fully satisfied. Travel, Equipment & Safety Travel between accounts throughout the assigned territory in a personal vehicle, maintaining a valid driver's license, current insurance, and an acceptable driving record. Maintain cleanliness and proper upkeep of the personal vehicle used to service accounts, and ensure it is safe and road-ready before and after each shift. Record and submit business mileage accurately and on time through KDC's mileage reimbursement program. Operate a hand truck, dolly, or cart safely when moving product, and use proper lifting technique at all times. Record all hours worked accurately and completely in the company timekeeping system. Follow all company safety and personal protective equipment requirements, and report safety concerns to your supervisor immediately. Maintain compliance with all company policies and applicable industry specific regulations. Perform other job-related duties as assigned, showcasing flexibility and a willingness to contribute to team success. Benefits Compensation: $42,000 – $50,000 per year, depending on experience. This is a salaried, non-exempt position eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Schedule: Monday through Friday with an early start and a variable end time; shifts generally run 8–12 hours depending on the time of year and the size of the territory. Hours increase with seasonal and holiday volume. Mileage Reimbursement: This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for business use. Mileage is reimbursed through KDC's company mileage reimbursement program. Health Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision coverage, with KDC contributing a substantial share of the employee-only premium. Life Insurance: $30,000 company-paid policy at no cost to the employee, with supplemental coverage available. Additional Coverage: Voluntary short-term and long-term disability, accident, and critical illness coverage. 401(k): Eligible after three months of service; company match of 50% on the first 6% of employee contributions, with traditional and Roth options. Paid Time Off: Five days after six months of service, ten days annually at one to four years, and fifteen days annually after five years, with up to five days carryover. Paid Holidays: Eight paid holidays per year with no waiting period. Uniforms: Three uniforms provided at hire, plus discounts on work boots. Qualifications Qualifications Required Must be 21 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Texas driver's license and a driving record that meets company and insurance standards. Reliable personal vehicle available for daily business use, capable of safely transporting cases of product and point-of-sale materials between accounts, with current auto insurance that meets company requirements. Ability to learn and cover an assigned territory of multiple account types, and to fill in on other territories as needed. Strong organizational skills to efficiently manage inventory and ensure product placement. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with account managers, supervisors, and retail staff. Attention to detail to ensure accurate pricing and product placement. Ability to work independently, manage a daily list of accounts, and carry the day's work through to completion without direct supervision. Physical fitness and stamina to lift, move, and stock product for the full length of the shift. Dependable and punctual with the ability to maintain a regular work schedule and to adjust hours based on account needs, holidays, and seasonal volume. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen. Preferred Previous experience in merchandising, grocery, retail, stocking, or a related field. Basic knowledge of the beverage industry and point-of-sale materials. Familiarity with reset, schematic, and planogram standards. Experience servicing more than one account type, such as convenience, large format, or package stores. Familiarity with handheld or tablet-based reporting. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
