We are seeking an energetic and service-focused Bartender who is passionate about creating memorable guest experiences through exceptional beverage service, genuine hospitality, and attention to detail.
The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintaining an organized and well-stocked bar, processing guest transactions, and supporting restaurant, lounge, banquet, and other Food & Beverage operations as needed. This position plays an important role in delivering a welcoming atmosphere while maintaining responsible alcohol service, sanitation, safety, and hotel standards.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver Exceptional Bar & Guest Service
- Welcome guests promptly and create a warm, engaging, and professional bar experience.
- Provide attentive, personalized service and anticipate guest needs throughout the dining or beverage experience.
- Take beverage and food orders accurately and enter orders into the point-of-sale system.
- Provide guests with information regarding cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, food offerings, hotel amenities, and available promotions.
- Make recommendations based on guest preferences and product knowledge.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest questions, requests, concerns, and complaints.
- Follow through on guest requests to ensure expectations are met.
- Maintain a professional and approachable presence throughout the shift.
- Support service recovery efforts and notify management when additional assistance is needed.
Prepare & Serve Beverages
- Prepare and serve cocktails, mixed drinks, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes, portion standards, and presentation expectations.
- Follow established beverage recipes and pouring standards to ensure consistency and quality.
- Properly garnish and present beverages according to hotel and outlet standards.
- Verify guest identification and legal drinking age before serving alcoholic beverages when required.
- Monitor guest alcohol consumption and practice responsible alcohol service at all times.
- Decline or discontinue alcohol service when appropriate and involve management as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of current beverage menus, ingredients, specialty cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits.
- Stay informed of daily specials, promotions, events, group functions, and hotel activities that may impact service.
Maintain Beverage & Inventory Controls
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of liquor, wine, beer, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and bar supplies.
- Complete opening, ongoing, and closing bar setup and breakdown responsibilities.
- Restock beverages, ice, garnishes, glassware, and supplies throughout the shift.
- Follow established portion-control procedures to help manage beverage costs.
- Accurately record all beverages served through the approved point-of-sale system.
- Protect hotel assets by following established inventory, storage, and security procedures.
- Report product shortages, discrepancies, breakage, waste, or unusual inventory activity to management.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock organization as requested.
- Store alcoholic beverages and bar supplies securely and in accordance with hotel procedures.
Process Guest Checks & Payments
- Accurately process cash, credit card, room-charge, and other approved payment transactions.
- Maintain accountability for an assigned bank or cash drawer when applicable.
- Present guest checks accurately and close transactions in a timely manner.
- Follow established procedures for discounts, complimentary items, voids, refunds, transfers, and adjustments.
- Verify room-charge information and guest authorization as required.
- Reconcile transactions and assigned funds at the end of the shift.
- Promptly report cash or transaction discrepancies to management.
Maintain Bar Cleanliness & Readiness
- Maintain a clean, organized, sanitary, and visually appealing bar throughout the shift.
- Clean and sanitize bar surfaces, equipment, tools, beverage stations, and service areas.
- Maintain clean and properly polished glassware.
- Properly handle, store, rotate, and label beverage ingredients and garnishes.
- Dispose of waste, broken glass, and other materials according to established safety procedures.
- Maintain clean floors and immediately address spills or potential safety hazards.
- Ensure bar equipment is operating properly and report maintenance concerns promptly.
- Complete assigned opening and closing cleaning responsibilities.
Support Restaurant, Banquet & Hotel Operations
- Work collaboratively with servers, bussers, hosts, culinary associates, Banquets, and Food & Beverage leadership to ensure smooth service.
- Support restaurant, lounge, banquet, pool bar, special-event, and other beverage operations based on hotel needs.
- Prepare beverages for service staff accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with banquet bars, receptions, weddings, meetings, and special events when scheduled.
- Communicate guest requests, service issues, and operational concerns to appropriate team members.
- Coordinate with Culinary and service teams regarding food orders and guest needs.
- Assist other Food & Beverage associates during high-volume periods.
- Support opening, closing, and reset activities for outlets and event spaces as assigned.
Promote Sales & Enhance the Guest Experience
- Use product knowledge to recommend beverages, specialty cocktails, wines, food pairings, and featured items.
- Identify appropriate opportunities to suggest premium products and enhance the guest experience.
- Promote hotel Food & Beverage outlets, specials, events, and experiences when appropriate.
- Build positive guest relationships that encourage repeat business.
- Maintain awareness of guest preferences and provide personalized service when possible.
Support Safety, Responsible Alcohol Service & Compliance
- Follow all applicable federal, state, and local alcohol-service laws and regulations.
- Follow hotel and company alcohol-awareness and responsible-service standards.
- Verify identification and legal drinking age in accordance with established procedures.
- Recognize signs of intoxication and take appropriate action in partnership with management.
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation, hygiene, and handwashing requirements.
- Maintain safe working conditions within the bar and Food & Beverage areas.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment when required.
- Immediately report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, suspicious activity, or security concerns.
- Follow hotel emergency procedures and assist appropriately during emergency situations.
- Complete required alcohol-awareness, food-safety, safety, and compliance training.
- Perform all responsibilities in accordance with hotel policies, brand standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
What You Bring
- Previous bartending, restaurant, hospitality, or customer-service experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer, wine, beverage preparation, and responsible alcohol service.
- Ability to accurately follow beverage recipes and portion standards.
- Strong guest-service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members.
- Ability to remain calm, attentive, and professional during high-volume periods.
- Basic mathematical skills and the ability to handle cash and payment transactions accurately.
- Ability to prioritize multiple guest requests while maintaining service standards.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Food & Beverage and hotel departments.
- Ability to learn and operate point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to maintain professional grooming and appearance standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any alcohol-service or food-safety certification required by law or company policy.
Preferred
- Previous bartending experience in a full-service hotel, upscale restaurant, lounge, banquet, or high-volume environment.
- Knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails.
- Experience with wine and beer service.
- Previous banquet or event bartending experience.
- Experience with hotel or restaurant point-of-sale systems.
- Alcohol-awareness certification, such as TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol, where applicable.
- Food Handler or ServSafe certification.
Physical and Work Requirements
This position requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Remain standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequently bend, reach, twist, stoop, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Maintain manual dexterity required to prepare beverages, handle glassware, use bar tools, and operate point-of-sale equipment.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull beverage products, cases, supplies, ice, and equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry approximately 30–50 pounds as operationally required.
- Safely move throughout restaurant, bar, banquet, kitchen, storage, and other hotel areas.
- Work in areas that may include wet floors, temperature changes, noise, and high levels of guest activity.
- Maintain the hearing and visual ability necessary to interact with guests, identify safety concerns, read orders, and accurately prepare beverages.
- Work a flexible schedule based on hotel business needs, including early mornings, evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing business levels and priorities.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment when required.
- Maintain neat, clean, and professional grooming and appearance standards.
