As a Communications Intern in the 2027 Hussmann Summer Internship Program, you will gain experience and insight into the life of a communications professional. You will support Hussmann’s overall culture and employee engagement through the development and implementation of internal communication projects, plans, and programs that connect employees and leadership to each other.Â
Responsibilities
- Support the Communications team in executing communication plans and drafting content for key company programs, including storytelling to bring Hussmann’s mission, vision, and Behaviors for Success to lifeÂ
- Draft short articles and feature stories for the weekly companywide e-newsletter.Â
- Support town hall quarterly meetingsÂ
- Create videos and capture photos that represent our cultureÂ
- Provide fresh ideas and new perspectives to our Communications teamÂ
- Network with senior leaders, associates, and other program interns to learn about our organizationÂ
- Tour Hussmann's 1.6 million square foot manufacturing facility, our Global Hub for hosting customers, and the R&D Lab where we test product qualityÂ
- Participate in community stewardship outreach, career development events, and other team-building offsite eventsÂ
- Compete in the annual Ideation & Innovation ChallengeÂ

Ideation & Innovation Challenge: Throughout the twelve-week program, all Hussmann interns will divide into cross-functional teams and compete with one another for the Hussmann Ideation & Innovation Challenge. Working with Hussmann mentors and leaders, you and your team will identify a solution to a provided problem statement. At the end of the summer, you’ll present your team’s business proposal to a panel of judges, executive leaders, and the organization – and possibly create a roadmap for Hussmann’s next great innovation.Â
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in school pursuing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree Â
- Minimum 3.0 GPA Â
- Strong problem-solving, time management, and team effectiveness skills Â
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication, as well as creativityÂ
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization  Â
- Self-starter, with the ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects, and demonstrate strong attention to detailÂ
- Ability to bring solutions to challenges presented on the jobÂ
- Highly motivated and eager to learn  Â
- Strong computer skills  Â
- Ability to relocate, if not local Â

The summer internship will run from the third week of May through the first week of August. These dates may be changed to meet the needs of the student. Â
