Job DetailsJob Location: The HAT - Huntington Theatre - Boston , MA 02115Salary Range: $73,000.00 - $76,000.00 Salary/yearPOSITION: Lighting and Projections Supervisor DEPARTMENT: Lighting FT or PT: FT CLASSIFICATION: Annual Salaried SCHEDULE: Weekdays, weeknights, and weekends STATUS: Exempt            SALARY: $73,000-$76,000 REPORTS TO: Director of Production   STATEMENT OF JOB: Manages the lighting and projections department and acts as a liaison between lighting and projections designers and all other production departments. Responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and maintaining lighting and projections needs for all Huntington Theatre Company productions and as well as support to events in Huntington Theatre and Calderwood Pavilion as needed.      JOB DUTIES: • Works with lighting and projections designers as the production staff’s primary contact to realize each design, conveying inventory, system information, and production details, or delegates as appropriate. • Direct supervisor of full-time Lighting department staff and overhire lighting and projections staff. Develop staff skills and efficiency including mentoring employees, interns, and apprentices, and develops training plans for staff. • Responsible for production and maintenance budgets for lighting and projections. • Coordinates all purchasing for the Lighting and Projections departments including rentals for productions, equipment, and supplies.Plans, preps, and supervises the installation of each production’s lighting and projections systems. • Responsible for maintaining the artistic integrity of lighting and projections designs in conjunction with show crews by providing paperwork and any necessary training. • Collaborates with stage management to ensure productions adhere to Equity rules regarding atmospherics. • Coordinates with production management, designers, and other department heads for daily schedules and design elements. Communicates plan to the Lighting and Projections team. • Coordinates department schedules and staffing  across productions, events, and rentals in conjunction with each venue’s operations team. • Schedules all necessary work calls; hiring additional casual lighting labor as appropriate, in partnership with the Associate Lighting Supervisor. • Hires projections technician, projections programmer, and projections assistant as as needed • Ensures all staff working in the lighting department use all tools and materials safely and use appropriate protection equipment.  Provides training if necessary. • Maintains familiarity with industry standard technology.  Research and recommend upgrades and capital acquisitions where appropriate. • Provides maintenance and repair for all department equipment as needed including  leadership during the annual summertime maintenance period in both venues.   In addition to the duties listed above, the Huntington Theatre Company expects the following of each employee:  adheres to Huntington policies and procedures; works in a safe manner;  performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality; meets department productivity standards; participates in Huntington events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned. QualificationsREQUIREMENTS: • B.A./B.S. in Lighting Design, Technical Production, or equivalent professional experience. • Must have knowledge and experience in the specific requirements and conventions of theatrical productions including standard rigging practices. • Familiar with equipment and operating systems currently in place at the Huntington Theatre Company.  This includes programming and maintenance expertise on computer controlled consoles and dimmers (primarily ETC equipment), and knowledge in the set-up, operation and repair of DMX controlled equipment such as automated lighting fixtures, color-changing LED fixtures, and effects equipment.  Experience with Watchout, Vectorworks, and Lightwright software. • Budgeting experience. • Experience leading diverse teams of people. • Must be comfortable using ladders and fall arrest equipment as the production facilities have a grid and line sets, catwalks, loading rails, etc, • Moves equipment that ranges from 25-125 pounds. • Display positive attitude and creative problem solving and troubleshooting.
