Job Description:

Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for three Security Specialists to join our Physical Security team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Security Specialist do for us?

With general oversight, the Security Specialist is responsible for: delivering and promoting positive security interactions and customer service to employees, vendors, contractors and the public at Idaho Power facilities; monitoring the duties of contracted guard service personnel; scheduling and conducting training programs to facilitate functional understanding of Physical Security’s operations and processes; contributing and updating Physical Security guard operations best practices; executing and overseeing the visitor management program; responding to intrusion detection incidents; participating in reviews and updates of Physical Security standards and programs; and assisting with security incident response and reporting.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

  • Working knowledge of corporate security operations
  • Asset protection as demonstrated by ASIS International (ASIS)
  • Incident response best practices
  • Video management systems
  • Access control
  • Visitor management
  • Key control
  • Knowledge of law enforcement agencies in the IPC service area
  • Microsoft Office software, and PC applications.

Preferred:

  • Utility structure
  • Critical infrastructure security
  • Basic NERC and FERC compliance awareness
  • Security alarm monitoring concepts
  • Physical access provisioning practices
  • Working knowledge of security technology platforms (Unified Security and OSINT platforms) used to support enterprise physical security operations

  • Developing leadership skills

Ability to:

  • Apply sound business practices and economic principles to ensure efficient use of resources and improve physical security processes

  • Deal safely and effectively with persons exhibiting aggressive and/or violent behavior
  • Encourage active participation of stakeholders (e.g., employees, management, vendors, contractors) in formulating and implementing security processes
  • Learn and adapt quickly to new software platforms used in the course and scope of the Physical Security role


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in physical security

Preferred:

  • 2 or more years of demonstrated physical security supervising experience

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position

Preferred:

  • CPR/First Aid, CPI


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is classified as sedentary/light and requires 95% office work and 5% working in the field. Must be able to perform physical tasks necessary to complete incident response; rarely lift, carry, push/pull objects during an incident investigation; work independently with management, personnel, external customers such as law enforcement to deliver corporate security objectives.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete scheduled compliance training and submit to periodic background investigations as mandated by NERC. Reliable means of communication and transportation. Must be able to respond to intrusion detection incidents and emergency response situations. Minimal travel required within the Idaho Power service territory, with rare overnight stays.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Works independently, under minimal supervision with general to moderate scope. Prepares and presents reports as needed. Ensures contract guard personnel follow IPC processes and procedures. Ability to work within a budget.

These roles will be on the following shift schedule:

  • Day A-Shift: 7:00am – 3:00pm, Monday - Friday
  • Day B-Shift: 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday
