The Micron Mask Technology Center (MTC) is a leading-edge photomask fabrication facility located in Boise, Idaho. We enable sophisticated photolithography through our fine-tuned photomask manufacturing processes. Join a team that keeps one of the world's most advanced photomask manufacturing facilities running at peak performance. As a Photomask Sustaining Engineering Intern, you will collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to investigate complex technical issues, uncover insights from production data, improve quality and cycle time, and develop innovative solutions that support world-class manufacturing. Along the way, you will gain hands-on experience in semiconductor manufacturing, data analytics, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration while contributing to real production challenges with measurable impact.

What You'll Learn: Photomask manufacturing fundamentals and the role sustaining engineering plays in supporting the manufacturing process. Practical application of AI and automation to improve engineering productivity and knowledge management. SEM/EDX theory, operation, and data interpretation for defect investigation and root cause analysis.SPC theory and application, including trend analysis, control charts, and process monitoring. Statistical analysis techniques used to identify process shifts, prioritize improvement opportunities, and drive data-based decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze manufacturing and engineering data to identify trends, process shifts, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support SEM/EDX data collection, analysis, and visualization efforts.
  • Develop automation, analytics, and AI-based solutions that improve engineering efficiency and knowledge management.
  • Assist with Statistical Process Control (SPC) system development, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Partner with sustaining engineers to investigate manufacturing issues and support root cause analysis activities.
  • Document technical findings and share recommendations with cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to projects that improve quality, cycle time, and operational excellence across the manufacturing process.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Material Science, or a related technical field. Cannot graduate prior to September 2027.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated through coursework, projects, research, or work experience.
  • Experience working with data in Excel, JMP, Python, R, MATLAB, or similar analytical tools.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Interest in manufacturing, process improvement, automation, data science, and artificial intelligence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using Excel, JMP, Python, or similar tools. Familiarity with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization platforms.
  • Experience applying AI tools, machine learning, or automation to improve workflows or knowledge management.
  • Experience developing dashboards, data pipelines, or software tools.
  • Cleanroom or semiconductor manufacturing experience.
