The STAR (Support and Treatment for Adolescent Recovery) Clinician provides intensive, community-based behavioral health services to adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 who meet DSM-5 criteria for a substance use disorder (SUD). The identified youth serve as the primary recipient of clinical services; however, treatment is delivered through a family-centered approach that actively engages parents, caregivers, natural supports, schools, juvenile justice, medical providers, and other community stakeholders to promote lasting recovery and healthy family functioning.

The STAR Clinician provides comprehensive assessment, crisis intervention, individual and family therapy, psychoeducation, case management, care coordination, person-centered treatment planning, and recovery support designed to reduce substance use, improve family functioning, strengthen natural supports, and prevent hospitalization, residential placement, juvenile justice involvement, or other out-of-home placements.

Clinical services are delivered primarily in the youth's home, school, and community utilizing evidence-based interventions.  The STAR Clinician collaborates closely with families, schools, healthcare providers, courts, social services, community partners, and agency treatment teams to ensure coordinated, person-centered care that promotes recovery, resiliency, and successful community functioning.
