Every team member plays a vital role in creating a safe, compassionate, and efficient environment for our patients.   Core Values Confidentiality • Quality • Teamwork • Trust • Respect   Position Overview As a Patient Care Tech, you are an essential part of the patient care team, supporting both pre-operative and post-operative areas. You help ensure patients feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while keeping operations running smoothly.     Duties and Responsibilities: Patient Care & Support Assist nursing staff with the transfer of patients from gurneys to post-op recovery chairs and via wheelchair upon discharge  Assist with patient dietary needs and retrieve belongings as needed or as directed by nursing staff  Assist in taking patient vitals and reporting them to nursing staff Act in a respectful manner toward patients, families, and co-workers at all times   Clinical & Room Preparation Prepare for the next day’s schedule by stocking areas as needed or as directed  Assist in disinfecting, cleaning, and preparing rooms for incoming patients  Stock linen, remove soiled linen, and replace with clean supplies  Clean assigned areas and remove trash   Supplies & Inventory Management Assist with inventory control and stocking of supplies; support cost containment efforts   Communication & Coordination Answer phones professionally and courteously; communicate information to appropriate personnel and/or family members  Update Patient Location Board as needed  Transport lab specimens and blood to Intermountain HealthCare lab or pathology   Teamwork & Collaboration Assist visitors, staff, and physicians with a strong focus on guest relations  Act as a resource for other team members  Assist in the orientation of new personnel, students, and approved programs  Attend and participate in in-service programs, communication groups, and staff meetings  Work in a spirit of teamwork and trust; maintain professional boundaries Safety, Compliance & Quality Adhere to all infection control policies, including OSHA guidelines and proper PPE/sharps handling  Participate in Quality Management initiatives  Perform effectively in emergencies  Demonstrate appropriate dress according to policy at all times   Organization & Flexibility Prioritize responsibilities to support optimal patient care and efficient resource use  Demonstrate flexibility to meet the needs of the Surgery Center and clinical units Other duties as assigned     Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, or crawl.
