Assignments may be located at Buildings 10, 35, 35A, or 49 on the NIH Bethesda campus.

  • Positions Available: 2 Full-Time
  • Type of Employment: Full-Time Contractor Position with W-2 employment through Fidelity Partners.
  • Estimated Compensation: $34.39 per hour.
  • Annual Hours: Approximately 1,984 hours per year.
  • Period of Performance: September 24, 2026 through March 24, 2029, including option periods.
  • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays, with an assigned 8-hour shift between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM ET.
  • Security Requirements: Successful NACI / Level 1 Non-Sensitive suitability investigation required.
  • Work Arrangement: Primarily on-site. Regular or ad-hoc telework may be authorized by the Government.
  • Government-Furnished Equipment: NIH provides workspace, laptop/computer equipment, telephones, software, email, internet access, printers/copiers, ID badges, and required Government-system credentials for on-site work.

Summary of Duties

The Senior Administrative Assistant will provide advanced administrative and office support to senior-level personnel within the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

Qualifications

  • College degree; OR high school diploma/GED plus four (4) years of related work experience.
  • Experience performing complex administrative functions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and computer skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience supporting management personnel.
  • Experience coordinating high-level meetings.
  • Ability to manage multiple calendars and appointments.
  • Advanced data-entry and document-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • NIH, Federal Government, or scientific research administrative experience is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze documents for senior leadership.
  • Compile information for reports, inquiries, and administrative requests.
  • Perform advanced word processing and spreadsheet management.
  • Prepare, create, format, and edit spreadsheets and charts.
  • Develop and maintain administrative tracking tools.
  • Perform advanced internet and database research.
  • Coordinate meetings, calendars, appointments, and office activities.
  • Prepare and review correspondence and memoranda.
  • Support travel requests and related documentation.
  • Assist with procurement requests and purchase documentation.
  • Maintain administrative files and records.
  • Assist with office and laboratory communications and supplies.
  • Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and related applications.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive Government information.
