Beloit Health System is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at the Beloit Clinic West Side Clinic. As a Medical Assistant, you will support physicians and other licensed healthcare professionals while ensuring a positive patient experience. Responsibilities include both clinical and administrative duties that contribute to quality patient care and efficient clinic operations.

The Medical Assistant will:

  • Prepare patient documentation and medical records before appointments
  • Escort patient to room, obtains vitals and updates medical record, which would include a brief medical history or chief complaint, current medication, allergies, smoking status, pain status, immunization status, and all meaningful use data collection.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Verify and document procedure consents
  • Assist providers during examinations and procedures
  • Administer medications as ordered and accurately document treatment
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures and treatments
  • Support patient and family education
  • Adhere to infection control and patient safety standards
  • Complete prior authorizations and pre-certifications
  • Process patient forms, including FMLA, short-term disability, and long-term disability paperwork
  • Manage medication refill requests according to established protocols
  • Handle and triage phone calls under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records
  • Order and maintain clinical supplies
  • Clean and stock exam rooms
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and department initiatives

Job Requirements:

  • Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) at the time of hire
  • CPR certification within three months of hire
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Experience in Family Practice preferred with experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Two years of clinical experience preferred
