Job Overview
The Sr Portfolio Manager contributes to T-Mobile's success by maintaining the department portfolio and overarching roadmap, encompassing all the projects and programs. This position is responsible for leading portfolio intake and prioritization processes and relationships with key business partners across the enterprise. This will include teamwork and consultative feedback regarding project scope, impacts and business value with Directors and VPs. This role provides mentorship and feedback in supporting the delivery of business benefits, ensures prioritization aligns with enterprise and departmental pivotal initiatives, establishes and maintains effective relationships with all business sponsors/owners and key project collaborators, partners closely with Finance and Accounting on budget reconciliation and monitors and controls initiative-level expenses and tracks and publishes the operational metrics to drive efficiencies and throughput of ideas to projects and programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages and maintains the department portfolio and roadmap. Compiles all the vital information in partnership with project managers, program managers, and product team to ensure the portfolio is kept up to date. Drives internal and cross-functional teams to understand the roadmap and indicate any constraints and dependencies early and often. Maintains the launch calendar to ensure visibility and awareness around all launch activities within the portfolio. Responsible for monthly senior-level executive portfolio status updates.
  • Operationalize and provides mentorship to colleagues and leadership to navigate the department Portfolio intake & prioritization processes by maintaining a strong and customer-focused relationship with the VPs, Directors, Senior Managers. Ensures prioritization aligns with enterprise strategic objectives. Provides mentorship on the enterprise intake process.
  • Identifies cross project and program dependencies. Develops risk mitigation recommendations; assesses risk and critical issues to launch; advances requests based on issues that negatively impact resources, budget, or ability to deliver on time.
  • Manages the Portfolio budget in partnership with Finance. Drives internal and cross-functional teams to forecast spend at project/program level. Oversees actual spend and portfolio burn rate; compiles monthly reports for senior leadership. Facilities accounting treatment processes for all initiatives within our department and ensures appropriate accounting/financial coding is applied.
  • Contributes to corporate governance process by establishing process, continuous improvement and documentation.


Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 3 years of related work experience
    OR advanced degree with 1 year of related work experience
    OR combination of education and experience deemed equivalent (Required)
  • Acceptable areas of study include Business Administration, Project Management, Program Management or related field (Preferred)
  • 4-7 years Experience in leading, assessing, or working in some facet of the project life cycle. (Preferred)
  • 4-7 years Experience with SDLC; industry-leading knowledge of Portfolio management. (Preferred)
  • Less than 2 years Experience leading virtual or other teams. (Preferred)
  • Experience with Share Point. (Preferred)

National Base Pay Range: $96,000 - $173,200

The Total Target Cash Earnings Opportunity represents the expected total cash compensation for this role at target performance, combining base salary and annual incentive opportunity. Actual earnings may be higher or lower depending on individual performance and overall company results.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on individual and/or company performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance. The incentive component included in the Total Target Cash Earnings Opportunity reflects target performance.
