DEPARTMENT: Production

WORKING HOURS: 1st Shift - M-F 730am to 4:00pm (includes 30 min unpaid lunch)

                               

POSITION TITLE: Working Shift Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Plant Manager



Position Summary

The Working Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all production activities during the shift. This role provides direct support to process technicians, mold setters, and production associates to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing operations. The position plays a key leadership role in driving productivity, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a dedicated and collaborative team environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Production Leadership

  • Supervise and coordinate daily shift operations across multiple injection molding machines.
  • Assign personnel, manage labor resources, and ensure proper staffing levels.
  • Monitor production schedules and communicate and assist in the adjustment of the production schedule to meet customer needs
  • Support production teams by assisting with mold changes, troubleshooting, and operational needs.
  • Ensure smooth shift transitions through effective communication with other shift supervisors and plant leadership team

Quality & Process Control

  • Ensure all products meet established quality standards and specifications and oversee first-piece approvals, in-process inspections, and proper documentation.
  • Identify and help resolve molding defects including flash, short shots, splay, and warpage.
  • Partner with process technicians to optimize cycle times and reduce scrap.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and product quality.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct safety audits, incident investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a safety-first culture among all team members.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace in alignment with 5S principles.

Team Development

  • Train, coach, and mentor machine operators, mold setters, and process technicians
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and support employee development.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment.
  • Ensure team members are properly cross trained to support operational flexibility.
  • Step in as needed to support production, including giving breaks and assisting with packaging and anything else that is needed

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in injection molding manufacturing preferred but not required
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience required
  • Strong knowledge of molding processes, materials, and equipment a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and consistent positive attitude
  • Effective communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • People first, positive, and supportive attitude/personality

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
