The Opportunity:
CACI Federal Inc. has an immediate opening for Mechanical Engineer located on-site in Belgrade, MT. The Mechanical Engineer will assist with new product development from concept to production release. You will work in a fast-paced, high-performance environment, collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and test teams to deliver innovative solutions for advanced hardware systems. This role requires the ability to apply knowledge of mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Use first principles to design, model, and document complex mechanical systems, assemblies, and components.

  • Run thermal and/or structural simulations, and complete tolerance stack-up analysis

  • Manage CAD data and configuration using PLM software.

  • Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs that meet ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.

  • Perform design trade studies, tolerance analysis, and material selection for demanding applications.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are producible, cost-effective, and high quality.

  • Participate in prototype builds, assembly, and troubleshooting of mechanical hardware.

  • Support and execute component- and system-level testing, including environmental testing (thermal, vibration, shock, etc.).

  • Work cross-functionally with engineers from multiple disciplines to integrate mechanical systems into larger assemblies.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design, test, and build processes.


Qualifications:

Required: 

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (M.S. preferred).

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • 3+ years of industry experience in mechanical design, analysis, and testing or master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering

  • Experience with 3D modelling tools (SolidWorks preferred), first-order structural and thermal analysis,

  • Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and mechanical drafting standards.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

  • Experience with PLM systems and the engineering release process.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to work both independently and in teams.


Desired:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance if required

  • Experience with dynamic system modelling, vibration analysis, and motor sizing.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
