About the Role:

The Shop Welder B plays a critical role in fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components and structures within a manufacturing or industrial setting. This position requires precision and attention to detail to ensure all welds meet quality and safety standards, contributing directly to the durability and functionality of the final products. The Shop Welder B will collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders, ensuring that welding tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. This role demands a strong understanding of various welding techniques and the ability to work with different metals and alloys. Ultimately, the Shop Welder B ensures that all welding operations support the company’s commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a welder in a shop or industrial environment.
• Certification in welding from a recognized institution (e.g., AWS Certified Welder).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of safety standards and practices related to welding operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with a variety of metals including stainless steel and carbon steel.
• Familiarity with welding inspection techniques and non-destructive testing methods.
• Additional certifications such as OSHA safety training or specialized welding processes.
• Experience and ability to pass a welding test in 3G for Flux core and SMAW (Stick welding).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

• Perform welding tasks using various methods such as Flux Core, TIG, and Stick welding to join metal parts according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine welding requirements and sequence of operations.
• Inspect welded surfaces and structures to ensure compliance with quality standards and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in safe and working condition at all times.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to plan and prioritize welding projects to meet production deadlines.

The required skills enable the Shop Welder B to accurately interpret technical drawings and execute precise welds that meet stringent quality standards.
