Overview:

The Production Manager leads the day-to-day operations of the Vinyl Acetate unit, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient use of personnel and resources to meet customer requirements and achieve business objectives. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence by identifying improvement opportunities, developing solutions, and implementing initiatives that enhance safety, reliability, productivity, and overall unit performance. This is an on-site position based in Bay City, Texas.

Responsibilities:

 Stewardship – Owner of the stewardship performance for the operating area​

  • Ensures employees understand the Stewardship programs for the area (Life critical, Environmental, reporting) ​
  • Member of Site Leadership Team​
  • Strong knowledge of Process Safety 
  • Administration of Process safety requirements (i.e. MOC, bypass approval) and compliance​
  • Develop Team risk recognition and mitigation culture​
  • MOC system approval authority​
  • Work with Safety and Environment Leaders to proactively understand and address concerns.

Quality – Quality performance is known, accurate, and within desirable range​

  • Quality measurements are in place and operational ​
  • Quality targets are reviewed and acceptable. Plan is in place to handle unacceptable quality results with solutions to mitigate and resolve​
  • Quality strategy is in place and known by all personnel​

Production/Reliability – Deliver to the production plan ​

  • Ensure resources, raw materials and supplies are available for unit operation ​
  • Remove or mitigate barriers leading to production issues​
  • Communicate issues with production plan and provide new forecast as needed​
  • Validate and coordinate S&OP site plan
  • Communicates maintenance requirements to Asset Leader & Maintenance Team Captain​

Engagement – Drives consistent and proactive improvement performance​

  • Lead and act as role model for engagement and proactive behaviors​
    • 5S
    • MttC
    • Organizational Behavior 
  • Owner of the Conduct of Operations system in place for flawless daily execution​
  • Reinforce SQRE plans by performing walk-throughs and providing feedback​
  • Drives development and engagement of 24/7 and production team.
  • Foster a teamwork environment that is inclusive of ideas and solutions​
  • Employee performance evaluation and management​

Strategy - Translate unit strategy into operating plan, including UTP progression​

Maintain risk registry for daily execution performance and ensure solutions are in place to mitigate or eliminate any concerns​

  • Develop team plan to address emerging needs and/or non-routinely activities​
  • Review KPIs and gaps with team. Assigns PPR to resolve gaps and follows up on solutions​
  • Collaborates with the Asset Leader on emerging issues or reliability strategy to enable flawless daily execution​
  • Coordinates with the Technology Manager to remove technical roadblocks

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in chemical production facilities
  • BS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry industry strongly preferred
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing processes
  • Experience in leading people in chemical manufacturing
  • Ability to lead in a team based environment
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple simultaneous assignments
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
