As part of Aventia, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work, collaborate with experienced professionals, and build a rewarding career within an organization that values quality, safety, innovation, and client success.    Position Summary:  ECM Consultants is seeking an experienced Civil-Construction Engineer to perform a full range of engineering functions, including existing-condition assessments, planning, engineering studies, scope-of-work development, cost estimating, design and construction document review, and project schedule review. In this role, you will prepare plans and specifications for construction, maintenance, and repair projects while supporting public health, safety, and welfare through strong quality assurance.    Position Responsibilities:  Project Coordination & Documentation  Attend project meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and develop meeting agendas.  Prepare plans in accordance with project scopes of work.  Maintain project documents and construction records.  Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, utility companies, and other project stakeholders.  Prepare bid packages, specifications, and project correspondence.  Construction Administration  Review shop drawings and respond to requests for information.  Conduct construction site visits and administer projects of varying types and sizes.  Prepare plan changes and change orders that revise contract quantities or contract time, including explanations of the engineering need for each change.  Review schedules of values and prepare monthly pay estimates for verified and acceptable work quantities.  Write correspondence to contractors that explains the intent of plans, specifications, and construction policy.  Quality Assurance & Contract Management  Monitor quality assurance sampling and testing of construction materials.  Evaluate contractor claims and disputes and prepare written responses.  Maintain as-built records, punch-list items, and time-and-material reports.  Team Leadership  Supervise CAD drafters, construction inspectors, engineering interns, and testing laboratories.  Provide constructive feedback and coaching to improve employee efficiency and effectiveness.  Lead employees in meeting expectations for productivity, quality, and project goals.    Key Capabilities:  Ability to apply engineering concepts in real-world environments.  Practical problem-solving skills in situations where limited standardization exists.  Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and maps.  Proficiency with engineering and technical software, primarily AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, Excel, Microsoft Project, and SpecsIntact.  Ability to perform computer data entry and respond to inquiries.  Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.  Strong presentation and communication skills when working with clients, customers, and the general public.  Collaborative, helpful, and team-oriented approach grounded in cooperation and humility.  Conflict-management and team-building skills.  QualificationsExperience/Education/Licensing & Certification Requirements:  Required  Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university.  Minimum of 4 to 6 years of engineering experience.  Professional Engineer license.  Additional Certifications & Training  National Highway Institute Introduction to Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges.  Work Zone Traffic Control Technician, Flagger, and Supervisor training.  Construction Management Association of America training or certification.  Managing Highway Contract Claims: Analysis & Avoidance, FHWA-NHI-130055.  Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges.    Work Environment  This position operates primarily in a professional office setting with occasional field work. Field assignments may involve varying temperatures, elevated noise levels, and other non-standard environmental conditions depending on project requirements.    Physical Requirements  Field work may require the ability to:  Stand and walk for extended periods.  Navigate uneven surfaces and active construction sites.  Use hands and arms for reaching, handling, and operating equipment.  Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds.  Communicate effectively through speaking and hearing.  Utilize close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision with the ability to adjust focus as needed.    What We Offer  At ECM, you will help design, restore, protect, and improve communities across the Gulf South.
