At Kennedy Krieger Institute, we believe early intervention can transform a child's future. As a Clinical Social Worker in our Infant Neurodevelopment Center (INC), you will provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to families during some of the most vulnerable moments of their child's development.

Working as a key member of an interdisciplinary team, you will support families whose infants and young children have medical complexities, developmental concerns, or are transitioning from NICU care. This unique role combines clinical social work, care coordination, family advocacy, and resource navigation to help families successfully access services and build resilience as they navigate their child's developmental journey.

This is an onsite position requiring in-person participation to support patient care, family engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and program operations.

What You'll Do

Clinical Assessment & Family Support

• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments for infants and families seen within the Infant Neurodevelopment Center.
• Provide short-term psychosocial support and counseling focused on caregiver coping, family functioning, adjustment to medical diagnoses, and support systems.
• Deliver trauma-informed, family-centered services that promote emotional well-being and resilience.

Care Coordination & Transition Support

• Coordinate care with Kennedy Krieger providers, community agencies, healthcare systems, and hospital partners.
• Collaborate with NICUs, inpatient and outpatient providers to facilitate seamless transitions of care.
• Assist families in navigating healthcare systems, insurance requirements, early intervention programs, and community resources.
• Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences and care planning meetings.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

• Work closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, psychologists, and other professionals to support comprehensive family-centered care.
• Provide consultation regarding psychosocial needs, barriers to care, and community resource access.
• Foster collaborative relationships that enhance continuity of care and positive patient outcomes.

Documentation & Professional Practice

• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in compliance with clinical, regulatory, and organizational standards.
• Participate in supervision, interdisciplinary consultation, continuing education, and professional development activities.
• Utilize evidence-informed practices that align with current standards of medical and clinical social work.

Qualifications

Required

• Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited School of Social Work.
• Current Maryland licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Certified (LCSW-C).
• Minimum of two years of clinical social work experience.
• At least one year of experience providing services to children, adolescents, and adults with developmental disabilities, chronic health conditions, or disorders of the brain.

Preferred

• Experience in medical social work, pediatric healthcare, hospitals, NICUs, maternal-child health, or related healthcare settings.
• Training and/or experience in:
• Perinatal mental health
• Infant mental health
• Early childhood development
• Supporting medically complex infants and children
• Strong knowledge of community resources, family systems, and healthcare navigation.
