Superintendent – Tenant Improvement
Location: Austin, TX
Gordon Highlander is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations for commercial Tenant Improvement (TI) projects throughout the Austin market.
We are looking for a strong field leader with proven commercial TI experience, ideally across light industrial, distribution centers, warehousing, cold storage, high-rise tenant improvements, or similar fast-paced commercial environments.
A Gordon Highlander Superintendent is responsible for the overall field success of assigned projects from mobilization through closeout. This individual will manage subcontractors, schedules, safety, quality, site logistics, and day-to-day client coordination while ensuring projects are delivered to the high standards our clients expect.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing complex projects where schedules, priorities, and client requirements can change quickly. Just as importantly, they will be a collaborative leader who builds strong relationships with clients, trade partners, and internal project teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all on-site construction activities from mobilization through project closeout.
- Manage commercial TI projects to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules, milestones, look-ahead schedules, and short-term work plans.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to maintain efficient project execution.
- Manage site logistics and sequencing in active, occupied, or schedule-sensitive environments.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and potential delays.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety requirements, contract documents, and quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Owners, Architects, Engineers, and Consultants throughout the construction process.
- Lead subcontractor coordination, project, and safety meetings.
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to identify potential challenges before they impact the field.
- Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, schedules, inspections, punch lists, and closeout activities.
- Communicate project status, risks, and solutions effectively to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with clients through a responsive, proactive, and solution-oriented approach.
- Champion Gordon Highlander's Client Centricity Culture and promote collaboration across field operations, project management, and preconstruction.
- Lead with a servant-leadership mindset while maintaining accountability, performance, and high standards across the jobsite.

Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of commercial construction field supervision experience, with demonstrated experience leading Tenant Improvement projects.
- Experience with light industrial, distribution centers, warehouses, cold storage facilities, high-rise tenant improvements, or similar commercial projects strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of TI construction, including project sequencing, MEP coordination, finishes, scheduling, and site logistics.
- Experience working within occupied buildings, operational facilities, or other schedule-sensitive environments is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and multiple project stakeholders.
- Ability to identify field challenges early and develop practical solutions that protect the project schedule and client relationship.
- Excellent communication, leadership, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and scheduling platforms.
- Thorough understanding of OSHA requirements and jobsite safety management.
- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and client service.
