  • Responsibilities include creating and leading a product lifecycle calendar, managing SKU productivity, and ensuring brand consistency while optimizing pricing and margin strategies.
  • The position offers a competitive salary along with benefits such as 401k, healthcare, and flexible time off in a vibrant office environment in South Austin.

Made In makes professional-grade cookware and kitchenware and sells the same assortment through four channels with four different economics: a full-margin DTC brand experience, wholesale doors, the Amazon marketplace, and a growing set of international markets. We're looking for a Senior Merchant to be the manager of that global assortment: the single owner of what we sell, how it's architected across channels, and whether it hits its margin and sell-through targets.

You'll sit at the intersection of product and commerce and will shape the line at the source alongside product and commercial leaders. You'll translate one global line into channel-right assortments that protect our premium positioning everywhere they show up.聽聽

What you'll own:

The global line & assortment architecture

  • Create and lead a product lifecycle calendar: from design and concept Kick-off, to Sample Reviews, and Launch Strategy Readiness meetings
  • Own the end-to-end assortment across cookware, bakeware, tools, cutlery, tabletop, and accessories, from line architecture through lifecycle, newness cadence, and exits.
  • Build the line as a deliberate architecture: good-better-best price tiers with target initial markup by tier, and a clear role for every SKU (hero/traffic driver, margin driver, innovation, exit).
  • Partner with Product and Design from concept, bringing the commercial and channel lens into product creation.
  • Run SKU productivity rigorously: clear recommendations on what to scale, fix, or cut, backed by sell-through and margin data.

Channel-right strategy across DTC, Wholesale, Amazon & International

  • Translate one global line into the right assortment for each channel without cannibalizing channels or fragmenting the brand. Brand consistency with channel and regional relevance.
  • DTC: protect full-price storytelling and newness; own the on-site assortment logic, sets/attach strategy, and full-price sell-through.
  • Wholesale: build channel-right, margin-aware assortments that fit partners' customers and space realities; support sell-in with seasonal line plans and workbooks.
  • Amazon/Marketplace: decide which SKUs belong on marketplace vs. protected for DTC/wholesale; own MAP governance and price integrity, and manage the channel-conflict dynamics that come with it.
  • International: localize the assortment based on duty- and landed-cost-aware margin planning per market, as well as kitting and COO realities.聽

Pricing & margin聽

  • Take full accountability for sales, gross margin, and growth targets across channels, categories, and product ranges.
  • Own the pricing architecture, one product line carrying the right price and margin math per channel, and the promotional recommendations, protecting premium margins through exclusive assortment, disciplined markdowns, and tight inventory partnership.
  • Present category performance against P&L expectations in regular business reviews, with action-oriented responses to in-season trends.

Planning partnership

  • Set the assortment and financial strategy the Planning team plans against; partner closely with our three planners on open-to-buy, forecasting, and inventory flow to balance in-stock service against turns and margin.
  • Drive optimization in key metrics surrounding sell-through, margin, and inventory health) in partnership with sales channel managers, Planning, and Product.

How success is measured:

Full-price sell-through 路 gross margin % 路 inventory turns / weeks of supply (with Planning) 路 SKU productivity 路 assortment/newness performance 路 channel margin health.

Who you are:

  • 7+ years in merchandising, buying, or category management for a multi-channel consumer brand, with demonstrated ownership of a category's margin and sell-through.
  • Genuinely multi-channel, you've built assortments that live across DTC and wholesale at minimum; marketplace (Amazon) and international experience is a strong plus.
  • Fluent in retail math, markup, IMU, margin, AUR, sell-through, OTB, inventory productivity, and comfortable making trade-offs across revenue, margin, and inventory with imperfect information.
  • A product partner, not just a buyer, you can sit with Product and shape a line, then defend the commercial logic of every SKU in a digitally native business with digital acquisition dynamics
  • Systems-fluent and ai obsessed: advanced Excel plus experience with a planning tool (Anaplan/Toolio-class), a PLM, NuOrder or similar for wholesale, an ERP (NetSuite), and Shopify/BI. Automate first, headcount later mentality.聽
  • Energized by owning an outcome as an individual contributor, close to a founder, in a fast-moving premium brand.

Benefits We Offer:

  • Competitive salary, 401k, healthcare benefits (including fertility and family-building care, mental health therapy, teladoc virtual health access along with HSA and FSA plans) and free and discounted cookware
  • A people-centric workplace with flexible time off
  • A vibrant, lively office space in the heart of South Austin which includes our onsite studio kitchen
