About the Role
Goodwill Central Texas Commercial Services provides janitorial and related contract services while creating meaningful employment opportunities through purpose-driven workforce programs.
As an Overnight Custodian, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at an IRS facility. This role requires someone who can work independently, take pride in their work, and has strong hands-on experience with floor care and carpet extraction.

Role & Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain restrooms, fixtures, floors, and other assigned areas using approved products and procedures.
- Sweep and mop floors daily; strip, wax, and buff floors as required.
- Perform independent floor care, including operating floor machines and completing required floor-care tasks.
- Vacuum carpets daily and perform carpet shampooing/extraction as required by the contract.
- Spot-clean doors, walls, windows, and other surfaces.
- Restock cleaning and restroom supplies as needed.
- Empty trash and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Safely mix, handle, and use cleaning chemicals according to established safety procedures.
- Maintain assigned areas in accordance with contract standards and Goodwill expectations.
- Maintain reliable attendance and consistently report for assigned overnight shifts.
- Complete required training and follow all applicable safety, security, and facility procedures.
- Represent Goodwill Central Texas professionally while working at the customer facility.
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 months of custodial experience or completion of an approved custodial training program.
- Strong, hands-on experience with floor care and the ability to perform floor-care duties independently.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate buffers, floor machines, and carpet extractors.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and regularly push, pull, bend, reach, and move throughout the facility during the shift.
- Ability to work the assigned overnight schedule with reliable and predictable attendance.
- Ability to pass a contract-required background check.
- Valid government-issued photo identification.
- Selective Service registration or applicable exemption, if required.
- AbilityOne Program eligibility based on a documented medical condition. Medical documentation will be required upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of commercial or federal-contract custodial experience.
- Previous experience operating buffers, floor machines, and carpet extractors.
- Experience working independently while maintaining established cleaning and quality standards.
