What You'll Do
As our Hospital Services Manager, you'll play a critical role in ensuring hospitals have the blood products they need, when they need them. You'll oversee all aspects of distribution operations while leading a dedicated team committed to excellent customer service and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution of blood components.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels to meet hospital needs while minimizing product waste.
- Coordinate efficient delivery schedules and transportation routes for hospital customers.
- Partner with courier services and third-party vendors to ensure timely deliveries.
- Ensure all blood products are stored, handled, and transported in accordance with FDA, AABB, manufacturer, and organizational guidelines.
- Manage recovered plasma shipments and ensure compliance with plasma fractionator requirements.
- Maintain product codes and pricing information within the BECS software system.
- Accurately process customer account charges and credits.
- Serve as the primary contact and liaison between Shepeard Community Blood Center and hospital blood banks.
- Prepare usage reports and provide valuable inventory data to hospital partners.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and lower transportation costs.
- Recruit, schedule, train, coach, and supervise distribution staff.
- Conduct employee training, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver exceptional service and support our lifesaving mission.
What Makes You a Great Fit
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Previous supervisory experience with demonstrated success leading teams and achieving goals.
- Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a good driving record.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Flexible, team-oriented attitude and a commitment to customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in logistics, inventory control, distribution, transportation coordination, or scheduling.
- Blood center, healthcare, laboratory, or medical supply experience strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, push, and pull regularly.
- Lift and move items weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Work in both office and laboratory environments.
Work Environment
This role combines office, laboratory, and operational responsibilities. Team members may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and should be comfortable working in a regulated healthcare environment. The position requires strong multitasking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain organized amidst frequent communication and operational demands.
