Overview

Auburn University is seeking a Forestry Technician to support forestry research programs by performing a variety of technical and operational tasks. This position assists with activities that contribute to the successful implementation and support of research efforts within the forestry program.
 

This is a one-year limited-term position. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funding.


Responsibilities

  • Collects, records, summarizes, and/or reports data on new and existing laboratory and/or field research projects.
  • Plants, waters, fertilizes, and harvests trees and/or other plants for research and reforestation.
  • May assist with the production of presentation and publication materials associated with collected data.
  • May repair and maintain Dixon Center buildings and property.
  • May operate and maintain heavy equipment such as tractors, bulldozers, and road graders.
  • May assist with prescribed burning.
  • May plant food plots for wildlife.
  • May obtain tree and plot measurements for inventory and sale of forest products.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License


SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED FOR EXPERIENCE: Yes, When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
