Position Purpose:
Operations Business Senior Manager is responsible for leading large, cross-functional initiatives that deliver value to The Home Depot through improvements in operational processes, workforce effectiveness, business performance, and scalable growth. This role leverages strategic thinking and a broad enterprise perspective to identify complex business challenges, assess their operational and organizational impacts, break problems into actionable components, and develop solutions that align with business objectives. The Senior Manager partners with stakeholders across multiple functions to define project scope, establish governance, communicate priorities, drive execution, and ensure successful delivery of initiatives that improve productivity, efficiency, customer experience, and operational performance. The role serves as a critical link between strategy and execution, translating business priorities into sustainable processes, programs, and measurable results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive large cross-functional projects focusing on bringing value to Home Depot through store operations process improvement
- Liaison with internal and external clients, operations staff, senior management/officers and others affiliated with project team
- Create and maintain multiple project work plans
- Manage issues and roadblocks faced during life of project and ensure issues are resolved
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations process teams and all other SSC functional areas in driving change within Home Depot
- Use high-level strategic thinking to see the big picture, solve multi-faceted problems, understand the fundamental parts of the problems throughout the organizaiton at all levels
- Identify new, effective processes that are likely to add value to the stores bottom line
- Determine goals, direction and action steps necessary to maximize short-term and long-term success of projects in departments
- Ability to select, retain and motivate high caliber cross-functional staff including direct reports and full-time resources committed to project from other functional areas
- Identify and correct key operational areas of improvement within Home Depot's core business.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Direct and indirect reports include 5-10 managers/supervisors/analysts from within Operations and dedicated from other functional areas.
- Reports to Dir of Operations.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Under constant pressure to continuously meet tight deadlines, demanding quotas and/or must regularly deal with difficult situations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience leading, coaching, and developing teams that support project and operations for field operations, retail service support, or multi-unit operational environments.
- Proven track record of managing workload distribution, team capacity, and cross-functional project prioritization in a fast-paced setting.
- Demonstrated success building strong collaborative partnerships with cross-functional business units (e.g., finance, technology, strategy and field leadership) to align operational priorities and execute strategic initiatives.
- Strong background in operational change management, driving adoption of new processes, tools, and efficiencies across multi-units.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze operational analytics to build compelling business cases, track program outcomes, and measure long-term success.
- Passion for talent development, with a focus on teaching, coaching, and mentoring team members to elevate performance and build leadership pipelines.
- Exceptional communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills across all levels of the company and field leadership.
