Job DetailsJob Location: Atlanta - Atlanta, GA 30313Salary Range: $15.78 - $19.25GWCCA PUBLIC SAFETY OVERVIEW The Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) Public Safety function is responsible for delivering safe and efficient support to world-class events and guest experiences. Through strong communication with neighboring agencies, operational oversight, vendor partnerships, and team leadership, Public Safety ensures the Authority’s facilities operate at the highest standards of quality, safety practices, emergency management, and incident response.   GWCCA 911 COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER POSITION SUMMARY The Authority is currently hiring a 911 Communications Officer to join The Georgia World Congress Center. The 911 Communications Officer will perform daily work assignments delegated by the 911 Communications Supervisor or 911 Communications Manager including but not limited to dispatching police and security radio communications, completing security logs, recording key assignments, answering phones, typing, filing, copying, and responding to emergencies or similar tasks required by the 911 Communications Officer. Successful candidates embody the Authority's core values of authenticity, accountability, and collaboration while carrying out the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Candidates under final consideration must complete a criminal history evaluation and drug screening as a condition of employment.   GWCCA 911 COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER WORK ENVIRONMENT Fast-paced, professional work environment in a dynamic convention, sports, entertainment, and hospitality venue. Supports event-based business which may require irregular work hours, flexible scheduling, and availability to support evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events based on operational needs. Work performed in varying event facilities and conditions across the Authority's campus (indoors and outdoors). May be expected to perform or respond effectively to changing priorities, time-sensitive operational issues, and emergency situations while maintaining composure under pressure. Requires frequent interaction with large crowds in public venue and event settings while maintaining professionalism, composure, and exceptional customer service.   GWCCA 911 COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Requires the ability to remain seated and maintain concentration for extended periods while monitoring emergency communications, operating computer systems, and accurately documenting information. Requires frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers, keyboards, telephones, radio consoles, headsets, emergency communications systems, and other related equipment with speed and accuracy. Requires sufficient visual acuity to read computer screens, maps, addresses, caller information, dispatch information, alerts, and other digital and written materials accurately and efficiently. Requires sufficient hearing and auditory discrimination to receive, interpret, and respond accurately to telephone calls, radio transmissions, alarms, and multiple simultaneous communications, including communications that may be unclear, distressed, or received in high-noise environments. Requires the ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively for extended periods, including the ability to obtain and relay critical information during emergency and high-stress situations. Requires the ability to maintain sustained attention and concentration while simultaneously monitoring multiple sources of information, entering data, communicating with callers and emergency personnel, and responding to changing circumstances. May require occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, or other movement associated with performing duties within the communications center and accessing equipment, supplies, or work areas. Requires the ability to work extended shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as operational needs require, while maintaining the physical and mental alertness necessary to perform essential emergency communications functions. May be exposed to emotionally distressing, graphic, or otherwise disturbing information through emergency calls and communications and must be able to continue performing essential job functions in accordance with established procedures and professional standards.   GWCCA 911 COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Dispatch police and security calls promptly and effectively. Conduct surveillance of the interior and exterior facility through the closed-circuit TV system, and patrol duties as required. Direct and redirect incoming calls. Operate Dispatch Window-Security logs, key logs, radio distribution. Operate two-way radios, voice pagers, and radio base station equipment. Perform as a point of information to the general public. Maintain public image with customers and general public within the Georgia World Congress Center. Operate computer aided dispatch system and NCIC/GCIC computer terminal. Such other duties, functions, special projects as assigned by the Communications Supervisor. Actively participate in The Authority training programs as required. Accurately document and complete administrative paperwork. Comply with The Authority policies and procedures associated with such programs as risk management, safety, and emergency management.  Maintain an ethical and professional image when interacting with internal and external customers in to ensure customer satisfaction.
