Job Summary:
Supports the coordination and integration of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems to ensure alignment between design intent, construction execution, and project requirements. Develops working knowledge across core MEP systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety, low voltage, and automation, from design development through construction. Collaborates with project teams to review system documentation, identify coordination needs, and assist in resolving design and constructability challenges. Contributes to project delivery by supporting coordination processes, maintaining project documentation, and promoting alignment among project stakeholders. Builds technical and coordination capabilities while learning leading practices that support effective MEP system integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Supports coordination of MEP systems across design and construction phases to help ensure system integration and alignment with project objectives.
Assists in reviewing MEP drawings, specifications, and submittals to identify coordination requirements, constructability considerations, and potential system conflicts, including assisting with verification of field installation per the coordinated model and equipment recommendations under supervision, and verifying QA/QC checklists (e.g., FOK/FTE).
Collaborates with architects, engineers, project engineers, and trade partners to gather coordination information and support resolution of technical issues.
Participates in MEP coordination meetings and assists with tracking action items, documenting updates, and communicating information to project stakeholders.
Supports coordination reviews by identifying potential conflicts between building systems and escalating issues to senior MEP coordination staff, including confirming spacing requirements and equipment access for material and equipment installation.
Maintains coordination documentation, including models, logs, and project records that support project alignment and system integration including review and documentation of RFI and submittals.
Develops MEP coordination knowledge by working with experienced coordinators and project teams while applying established safety practices and lessons learned during field coordination and system installation activities, including participating in system walkdowns to identify missing or incomplete elements prior to system start-up and observing installation quality under supervision.
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction management, a related field, or equivalent experience required.
Work Experience:
2-4 years of experience in construction engineering, project engineering, MEP coordination support, or a related field required.
Certifications and Licenses:
None required.
