Position Overview

The Childcare Lead helps create a safe, fun, organized, and welcoming childcare experience for Western members and their children. In addition to working directly with children, this position leads the day-to-day childcare area, supports and trains Childcare Attendants, maintains consistent standards, communicates with parents, and helps ensure Western's childcare policies and procedures are followed. Children range from approximately 12 weeks through 10 years old.


Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for children and parents.
  • Actively interact with children through play, games, books, crafts, and age-appropriate activities.
  • Lead by example and help ensure Childcare Attendants provide attentive, engaged care.
  • Assist with training, coaching, scheduling coverage, and communication with childcare staff.
  • Follow and reinforce Western's check-in, reservation, pick-up, safety, illness, allergy, and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor childcare capacity and ensure established guidelines are followed.
  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding their child's visit, questions, or concerns.
  • Keep the childcare area clean, organized, sanitized, and well stocked.
  • Help plan activities and special touches that make childcare fun and memorable.
  • Communicate staffing, safety, parent, or operational concerns to management.
  • Look for opportunities to improve the overall childcare experience.


What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience working with children preferred.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Friendly, patient, dependable, organized, and positive.
  • Comfortable caring for infants through age 10.
  • Able to manage several children with different ages and needs at one time.
  • Strong communication skills with parents and staff.
  • Willing to take initiative and use good judgment.
  • Able to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to become certified.
  • Successful completion of required background screening and Western training.


Childcare at Western

Childcare visits may be up to two hours per day, and parents or guardians must remain inside Western during their child's visit. The childcare area has a maximum capacity of six children at one time, with children under 12 months counted as two spaces for staffing and capacity purposes. Our goal is to create a childcare experience that feels safe, welcoming, organized, and fun for both children and parents. The Childcare Lead plays an important role in supporting the team, building relationships with families, and helping ensure a consistent experience each day.

Kids should be excited to come back, and parents should feel great about bringing them.


Schedule

Childcare hours vary based on member needs and club programming. This position may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends, and flexibility is important. The Childcare Lead will help ensure appropriate coverage during scheduled childcare hours.
