Summary of Job
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving manufacturing equipment and facility systems to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, improving equipment performance, and ensuring production goals are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, experience working with industrial equipment, and the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Overview
The Industrial Maintenance Technician performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, packaging systems, utility systems, and facility support equipment. This position is responsible for troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, and drive systems while supporting continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence initiatives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production, packaging, and processing equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, and AC/DC drive systems.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair situations as needed.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, service documentation, and work orders.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and complete required maintenance activities utilizing CMMS and other maintenance systems.
- Support manufacturing equipment, utility systems, lubrication systems, resin delivery systems, and operational support equipment.
- Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, and work orders in CMMS.
- Communicate equipment issues, downtime concerns, and repair updates with production teams and leadership.
- Assist with maintaining maintenance parts inventory and notify leadership of low stock levels.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including the maintenance shop.
- Adhere to the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and support quality and food safety requirements where applicable.
- Identify Critical Control Points (CCPs) and maintain compliance with facility procedures.
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash, and other facility-specific safety protocols.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
- Experience with AC/DC drives, motors, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and machine controls.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Experience utilizing CMMS or computerized maintenance systems preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

- Heat may exceed 90°F.

- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work on feet for extended periods.
- Ability to safely work around production and maintenance equipment.
- Occasional computer and keyboard use.

Overtime required based on business needs
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Associate degree or Technical School Certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment preferred.
- Experience with PLC systems, electrical controls, motors, drives, hydraulics, and pneumatics preferred.
- Manufacturing maintenance experience strongly preferred.
Compensation
The listed hourly base pay range is estimated and may vary based on experience, skills, qualifications, performance, and demonstrated competencies. Base pay is one component of Pregis's total compensation package.
