Spartan Shield Solutions is a rapidly growing veteran-owned Fractional CFO and Outsourced Accounting firm based in Arlington, VA. We serve organizations across all industries, with a focus on government contractors. Spartan Shield works closely with its clients to improve operations, productivity, and organization while meeting compliance requirements. We do this through increasing access to up-to-date financial information, reducing inefficiencies, and freeing senior management to focus more on revenue-generating activities.

About the Role:

Spartan Shield is seeking a knowledgeable, driven individual to help the continued success of the company and the clients we support as a Controller. The Controller will work closely with the CFO and accounting team to deliver superb accounting services. Successful candidates must have government contracting experience and MUST have extensive experience with Unanet software. Experience with implementation preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Provide superior customer service
• Lead Unanet Implementation
• Review of accounts payable and cash disbursements for multiple clients
• Review of billings and receivables
• Review of cash receipts
• Review bank and other account reconciliations
• Review journal entries and month-end closings, including financial statement preparation
• Review payroll
• Support for annual tax and compliance filings
• Preparation of budgets
• Support for financial audits
• Implement and train on Unanet software as needed for clients

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor degree or above in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years of accounting experience required, currently in a Controller position
• 7+ years of Government Contractor experience required
• Must have extensive experience in Unanet software system including implementation
• Proficiency in at least one of the following additional software programs: Deltek Costpoint, QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Jamis, QuickBooks Desktop
• CPA a plus
• Familiarity with GAAP, cost accounting required
• Familiarity with FAR required
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in other standard office application
• Strong problem-solving and reasoning
• Able to prioritize and meet multiple competing deadlines
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Must be eligible to work in the United States and not require sponsorship now or in the future
