Job Summary
We are seeking a Construction Manager to oversee all aspects of the Construction Program, including planning, budgeting, procurement, and quality control.  He/she is responsible for ensuring that all construction work adheres to building codes and specifications and that safety guidelines are followed. 
 
The Manager interacts with and supervises volunteers, coordinates with staff for volunteer coverage, and communicates with the Executive Director. They will also have administrative responsibilities, such as coding invoices, obtaining permits and inspections, completing paperwork needed for grants and ensuring that all necessary licenses and insurance are in place. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the Construction Program at multiple job-sites
  • Oversee construction process and develop detailed plans for each project
  • Create schedules and budgets, procure materials, and ensure quality workmanship
  • Select and oversee contractors; develop Request for Quotes (RFQ’s) when required
  • Ensure permits, inspections, etc. are completed in accordance with guidelines
  • Assist in development of expansion of Habitat’s work through external repair programs
  • Evaluate land/properties for new construction or rehabilitation projects and plan for future construction cycles
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed 
  • Communicate with staff and provide administrative oversight
  • Ensures safe practices are met at job-site and maintain protocol for emergencies.  Meets all long and short term goals established by the Executive Director and construction committee
  • Supervise volunteers ranging from beginners to those skilled in construction.
  • Works with volunteer coordinator to prepare for volunteer workers at designated work site
  • Trains all volunteers utilizing knowledge from crew leaders and construction team
  •  Understands elements that contribute to successful volunteers and helps ensure that volunteers have a consistently good environment thus motivating them to return.
Qualifications

  • Experience in the residential construction industry, safety and first-aid training for emergencies on-site, and ability to perform in a construction setting
  • Deep understanding of construction management methods and processes
  • Strong leadership and crisis resolution skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft Excel and construction management software
  • Dedication to and ability to articulate the mission and core values of Habitat for Humanity of Madison County
  • Be a good listener and be able to engage in well-considered discussions
  • Good anticipatory abilities and personally act on same as need arises
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Must pass criminal background and sexual offender checks
