The Power System Engineer will work on-site in Alpharetta, GA, in a full-time capacity with minimal supervision, supporting the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical power systems for industrial, utility, and commercial projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing power system studies such as load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, and arc-flash analysis, modeling power networks and preparing technical reports and documentation. The engineer may also prepare equipment specifications, protection schemes, and provide recommendations to improve reliability, safety, and efficiency. This role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, interfacing with clients to understand project requirements and ensuring that designs comply with relevant codes, standards and best practices and contributes to the continuous improvement of departmental procedures and practices.


Experience:

 

  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering with experience in power systems and electric power
  • Hands-on experience in power systems analysis skills specifically using ETAP or SKM is a must have, preferably both
  • Demonstrated expertise in power distribution systems, electrical safety, and equipment specification Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred
  • Familiarity with industry compliance standards and codes such as NFPA, IEEE, et al, and relevant safety practices


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university
  • 5+ years of power system studies
  • Proficiency with power systems analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM or similar tools) is required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capacity to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work on-site in Alpharetta, GA for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
  • Capable of travel, up to 25%, on a case-by-case basis, to gather on-site data for modeling purposes, and for applying ArcFlash Hazard labels as required.
