About Us

Join a leading global player in the thriving space of machine manufacturing and motion control products, solutions, and services — including system integration and machine and equipment relocation and installation — for intelligent, high-performing, and efficient industrial machines. Play a significant role in one of the most dynamic and high-tech companies in the automation and servo motors and drives space, contributing to maximizing the productivity, efficiency, and sustainability of major international customers.

Baumueller-Nuermont Corp. (BNC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Baumüller Nürnberg GmbH representing the Baumüller Group in North America, is looking for a Certified Motor Repair Specialist. BNC is a leading manufacturer and solutions provider of intelligent drive and automation systems, bringing digital technologies to industrial manufacturing, transportation, and other market segments to maximize sustainability, circularity, efficiency, and performance.

Position Summary

The Certified Motor Repair Specialist is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, testing, and reconditioning electric servo motors and related drive components for BNC's North American customers. Working within the Repair Services team and reporting to the Repair Services Leader, this hands-on technical role covers the full repair lifecycle — from incoming inspection and failure diagnosis through mechanical and electrical rework, testing, and documentation — to ensure every unit returned to the customer meets OEM specifications and quality standards. The role may also involve occasional field service support at customer sites. The ideal candidate combines strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills with attention to detail, clear communication, and a customer-focused approach to service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and diagnose incoming electric servo motors and drive components to determine failure modes, damage, and repair scope.
  • Construct, maintain, and test electric servo motor systems and components in accordance with BNC and OEM repair standards.
  • Disassemble motor units and perform mechanical repairs, including bearing replacement, shaft and rotor work, winding inspection and repair, and rebalancing as needed.
  • Use measuring and diagnostic tools to test, modify, and repair electric servo motor units, including multimeters, megohmmeters, oscilloscopes, and surge testers.
  • Perform electrical tests such as insulation resistance, winding resistance, high-potential (hi-pot), and surge comparison testing to validate repair quality.
  • Ensure systems and components meet established specifications and customer requirements prior to return shipment.
  • Document inspection findings, repair actions, parts used, and test results for each unit, maintaining accurate repair records.
  • Coordinate with the Repair Services Leader and other internal teams on repair status, parts availability, and turnaround timelines.
  • Support accurate processing of purchase orders and order-related inquiries tied to repair jobs.
  • May be required to perform field service duties, including on-site diagnostics, installation support, and startup or commissioning at customer facilities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe repair work area in accordance with safety and workplace organization standards.
  • Stay current on standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the electric motor and drives repair field, as well as new repair techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no direct reports.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant servo motor repair work experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the testing and repair of mechanical assemblies, electrical wiring, electronic accessories, computer systems, and electronic components.
  • In-depth experience troubleshooting and servicing a variety of production equipment, with an emphasis on electric servo system equipment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Technical degree or certification in a relevant field such as electric motor repair, industrial controls, PLCs, or electro-mechanical technology, or equivalent hands-on trade experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant servo motor repair work experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience testing and repairing mechanical assemblies, electrical wiring, electronic accessories, computer systems, and electronic components.
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Working knowledge of motor winding configurations, insulation systems, bearings, and rotor assemblies.
  • Proficiency with standard electrical test equipment, such as multimeters, megohmmeters, oscilloscopes, and surge testers.
  • Proficiency in the English language, written and verbal.
  • Ability to use a computer in a Windows environment, including data entry and documentation software.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Background or interest in industrial automation, motors, drives, or electro-mechanical products.
  • Experience with Baumüller or comparable servo drive and motor product lines.
  • Technical aptitude to read and interpret basic specifications and drawings.
  • Experience with CNC, PLC-controlled, or other automated production equipment.
  • Forklift or overhead crane certification.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 safety training.
  • Valid driver's license, for occasional field service travel.
