Diagnostic Integration Engineer

We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

In this position...

The Integration Engineer is responsible for connecting external and upstream vehicle engineering systems and data sources with Ford's diagnostic platforms, enabling seamless diagnostic capability across Joint Venture (JV) partner vehicles and internal Ford vehicle programs. This role serves as the primary technical liaison between Service Engineering and Operations development teams, JV partners, and upstream vehicle system stakeholders, ensuring diagnostic architecture, data, and service systems are integrated, validated, and supported throughout the vehicle lifecycle. The Integration Engineer reports to the Service System and Architecture Supervisor.

What you'll do...

  • Serve as the primary Ford technical interface for external partners (JV and upstream engineering teams), coordinating diagnostic integration requirements and deliverables.
  • Support and validate vehicle architecture and diagnostic capability for partner and upstream vehicle programs, ensuring compatibility with Ford diagnostic tools.
  • Own the integration of vehicle and system data between partner/upstream sources and Ford's diagnostic and service systems, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data flow.
  • Provide Level 3 (L3) production support for data and system issues arising from partner or upstream integration, including root-cause investigation and resolution.
  • Act as Solution Architect for Ford diagnostic tool-related integration efforts, defining technical approach and ensuring solutions meet diagnostic and business requirements.
  • Develop software and integration specifications for new partners, upstream, or vehicle program onboarding.
  • Support cross-functional software and systems architecture discussions with internal engineering teams, JV partners, and upstream stakeholders.
  • Review new software, hardware, and vehicle communication platforms as needed to support integration capability.
  • Test solutions on a stand-alone and end-to-end (integrated) basis prior to release.
  • Design and lead service tools and system enhancements that improve dealer efficiency, repair effectiveness, and partner/upstream diagnostic readiness.

You'll have...
•    Bachelor's degree
•    5+ years of experience working in software engineering (i.e. software development methodologies, agile, scrum, etc.)
•    3+ years of experience in vehicle diagnostics, systems integration, or automotive electrical/software engineering
•    3+ years of experience with production support (L2/L3) and root-cause analysis for system or data issues
Even better, you may have...
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering
•    Experience working with vehicle communication protocols (e.g., CAN, UDS, DoIP) and diagnostic tools/platforms
•    Prior experience supporting Joint Venture partnerships or cross-organizational technical integration preferred
