Schedule:
Part-time/Full-time position based on operational requirements. Work will be performed Monday through Friday during Kirtland Aquatic Center operating hours of 5:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Federal holidays are normally excluded unless otherwise requested.

Summary:
The Lifeguard will provide continuous supervision of swimmers and ensure a safe aquatic environment at the Kirtland Aquatic Center. The position is responsible for monitoring pool activities, enforcing safety rules, responding to emergencies, performing rescue operations, assisting with daily facility checks, and maintaining required operational records.

Requirements:

  • Current Lifeguarding/Water Rescue, CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
  • Ability to pass required swimming proficiency tests, including a 300-yard continuous swim, two-minute water tread, and deep-water brick retrieval.
  • Ability to meet base access/background requirements, complete required safety training, and communicate effectively in English.

Duties:

  • Continuously monitor swimmers and respond immediately to aquatic emergencies.
  • Perform CPR, AED, First Aid, and water rescues when required.
  • Enforce pool rules, promote safe swimming practices, and provide professional customer service.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of rescue equipment, pool areas, and operational logs.
  • Assist with pool maintenance, water-quality checks, cleanliness, and reporting safety or equipment concerns.
