Department Summary:
MITRE is seeking a Security Specialist / Administrative Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of a secure site. Working under the direction of the Facility Security Officer (FSO), this position performs delegated industrial security responsibilities to help ensure compliance with NISPOM, DCSA requirements, and MITRE security policies. The role also provides administrative coordination that enables efficient site operations, supports leadership, and delivers an exceptional experience for employees and visitors. Roles & Responsibilities:
- Support the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in administering the site's industrial security program and perform delegated security responsibilities
- Process personnel security actions, maintain security records, coordinate visit certifications, and assist with onboarding and security briefings
- Coordinate visitor access, secure meetings, and classified visit logistics
- Maintain security documentation and assist with inspections, self-assessments, audits, and compliance activities
- Provide administrative support including calendar management, meeting coordination, office logistics, procurement support, and records management
- Maintain SharePoint sites, distribution lists, and administrative resources supporting site operations
- Communicate effectively with employees, leadership, Corporate Security, and government security representatives
- Purchase goods, services, and supplies to support site operations in accordance with sound procurement practices.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Experience supporting security, administrative, operations, or office management functions
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
- This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting an industrial security program under NISPOM
- Familiarity with DISS, NBIS, or other personnel security systems
- Knowledge of DCSA security requirements and industrial security practices
- Experience with facilities, laboratories, and safety
- Secret Clearance
