Position Summary The Product Warranty Engineer leads the technical investigation and resolution of product warranty claims across all product categories. This position evaluates product failures, determines root cause and warranty responsibility, analyzes field performance, and works with customers, repair facilities, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve complex warranty concerns. The role serves as the company's technical authority for warranty claim evaluations, with responsibility for approving reimbursements within delegated authority and translating warranty findings into actions that improve product performance, reduce warranty exposure, and strengthen customer confidence. Essential Responsibilities  • Lead the technical investigation and resolution of product warranty claims, including product failures, labor reimbursement, vehicle damage, repeat failures, and other significant warranty concerns. • Review claim documentation and returned products, perform failure analysis, and determine root cause and warranty responsibility. • Communicate with customers, distributors, repair facilities, suppliers, and internal teams to gather technical information, explain findings, and resolve claims fairly and efficiently. • Evaluate and approve warranty reimbursements within delegated authority; escalate claims involving goodwill, legal exposure, significant commercial risk, or approvals beyond established authority. • Monitor warranty performance and identify recurring trends by product, supplier, manufacturing source, application, customer, and failure mode. • Coordinate product testing, laboratory analysis, teardown evaluations, measurements, and other technical investigations necessary to validate failure modes and conclusions. • Provide warranty and field-performance findings to Product Management, Engineering, Quality, Technical Services, Purchasing, and Operations to support corrective actions and product, supplier, packaging, or process improvements. • Develop and maintain warranty investigation standards, technical documentation, failure-mode history, reporting, KPIs, and processes that improve consistency, response time, product performance, and warranty cost. QualificationsQualifications Education & Experience • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline; an equivalent combination of education and extensive industry experience may be considered. • 8+ years of engineering, warranty analysis, product quality, failure analysis, technical service, or related automotive experience. • Automotive aftermarket, OEM, or Tier 1 supplier experience strongly preferred. • Demonstrated experience conducting technical investigations involving product failures and warranty claims. • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing processes, diagnostic information, and repair documentation. • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to customers and cross-functional teams.
